Abstract:

   In the past few years, the root of trust for computer systems has quickly shifted from software to firmware, then to hardware. Within multiple candidate techniques, physically unclonable function (PUF) is a very attractive and promising solution. PUF has the special features of hardware-oriented, difficult to counterfeit, and highly efficient. In this talk, we will introduce its applications in the scenarios of Smart Health. Specifically, we will introduce encryption free authentication mechanisms among sensor pairs and within sensor groups in wireless body area networks (BAN). In body area networks, power consumption and computation overhead are top priority for any security measures. Using PUF, we allow sensors to achieve encryption free authentication and data integrity protection. The approaches support dynamic changes to the relationship among sensors and group membership.  

 

Bio: Dr. Weichao Wang is an Associate Professor in the College of Computing and Informatics, University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He received the Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Computer Science from Tsinghua University in 1998 and 2000, respectively. He received the PhD degree in CS from Purdue University in 2005. His research focuses on network and cloud security, and CPS systems. His research has been sponsored by US National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Labor (DoL), Charlotte Research Institute, and Duke Energy.

 

 

讲座简介(中文):在过去几年中,计算机系统的可信根快速的从软件转移到固件,然后是硬件。在几种技术中,物理不可克隆函数是一种非常具有吸引力的解决方案。由于物理不可克隆函数是在硬件制造过程中自然形成的,它具备不可复制、难以假冒、和计算高效等特点。在这个报告中,我们将介绍物理不可克隆函数在智能医疗中的应用。以无线体域网为例,我们使用物理不可克隆函数构造了传感器对和传感器组之间的身份认证方案。由于无线体域网中的传感器对安全方案的能耗和计算负载高度敏感,我们的方案避免了加密算法,而只使用轻负载的计算方式。为了保证可持续性,我们的方案支持传感器组的动态变化和布置。 

 

报告人简介:王伟超博士是美国北卡罗莱那大学夏洛特分校计算与信息学学院的副教授。他于1998年和2000年获得清华大学计算机系学士和硕士学位。2005年他从美国普渡大学计算机系毕业,获博士学位。他的研究工作集中在网络,云环境,和物联网的安全方面。他的研究工作先后获得美国国家自然科学基金,美国劳工部,杜克能源公司,和夏洛特研究院的支持。
