1. Transportation

The university will arrange transportation for teachers from and to Nanning Airport upon arrival and living the post. Teachers are supposed to arrange their own transportation for non-business purposes activities.

2. Health certificate, Expert Card, Visa(multiple entries) and Residence Permit

On teachers’ arrival at the university, IED will be responsible for applying Expert Card, which serves as a working permit at Guangxi University, changing visa into multiple-entries working one (if the teacher enters China with a visa other than working visa), arranging health examination for teachers in order to apply Residence Permit on behalf of the teachers. The university will pay for the expenses incurred during these procedures.
Document needed from teachers for applying visa:
1) Passport

2) Eight photos ( 2 inch)

3) Personal resume

4) Certificates of level of education and other relevant ones(Teaching Certificate, TESL, etc)

5) Recommendation letter

3. Telecommunication and Postal Services

Foreign teachers must pay for the telephone and network expenses. Judging from the regulations of Telecommunication Bureau, each month’s 1st ——20th is the time to pay the previous month’s telephone expenses. The foreign teacher should also pay for the fine for paying late. Before departure, foreign teachers should pay the telephone charge of the last month and prepay a certain amount of money to ICBC according to the Departure Notice.

During this period, foreign teachers can pay for the telephone exoenses at Industrial and Commercial Bank of China or the Telecommunication Bureau in Guangxi University. While paying, foreign teachers should write down the name and the telephone number.

Foreign teachers who surf the net through telephone should pay for the network fee and telephone expenses at the same time.

If Foreign teachers use the campus network, the costs will be deducted from the first month`s salary. The costs will be 500 Yuan RMB per year, including 300 Yuan RMB for opening the net and 200 Yuan RMB for using( 20 Yuan RMB per month, altogether)

There is a postal office on campus where you could send letters. It is suggested that the teachers leave their families or friends with the addrsses of the colleges with which they work. Postal address is as following:

4. Health and Medical Care

There are school medical clinics on campus where normal diseases can be cured. Foreign teachers can also select better hospitals in Nanning to cure their diseases. Guangxi University will pay 80% of the outside hospital`s expenses. However, the following costs must be paid by foreign teachers: the registration fee, the transportation fee during the medical treatment, the fee for inserting an artificial tooth, cleaning the teeth at the dentist`s, face-lifting, massaging, having eyesight tested for glasses, dining you are in hospital and having nourishing food which is not for medical treatment etc. Guangxi University will pay every foreign teacher`s medical expenses not surpassing 1000 Yuan RMB each year according to the principles. The part of surpassing 1000 Yuan RMB must be paid by foreign teachers. Moreover, we are in charge of purchasing the unexpected injury insurance for foreign teachers who sign the long term work contract( more than one semester) and also qualify the requirement of the insurance.

5. Salary and currency exchange

An account will be opened in the Bank of China for every new foreign teacher at the beginning of the semester. Each month the salary will be transformed to the account. The salary is granted at the day of teaching and is stopped at the leaving day. If the length of foreign teachers` teaching is less than one month, salary can be granted according to the actual working days.

On the basic of contract, 70% of foreign teachers’ salary can be exchanged for foreign currency. Every mid-June or mid-December, GuangxiUniversity will help foreign teachers to deal with relevant formalities. Foreign teachers who need to exchange can apply for Foreign Affairs Office at the beginning of June or at the beginning of December.

6. Personal Income Tax
According to Chinese income tax regulation, the taxes levy point for foreign teachers is RMB 4800 Yuan per month.

It is a usual practice that the Financial of Guangxi University will handle the personal income tax on behalf of the teachers.

7. Social activities
There are occasions that schools, TV stations or newspaper want to invite our foreign teachers to participate in different social activities which are mainly connected to language or cultural aspects. The IED will ask for the teachers’ opinions before we respond to them. Sometimes they can be very short notices and the teachers have the freedom to accept or refuse the invitation. If the foreign teachers are invited directly by the institutions concerned, it is suggested that the teachers consult IDE or the college first. Permission is needed from IED if a teacher wishes to teach or work part-time for any other institutions, but this is not encouraged by the university.

8. There are buses going directly to the Nanning Department Store located in the commercial certer of the city is located, and to the Flower and Bird Market where people can go and buy flowers and plants. Bus to the Nanning Department Store wears a sign of 西乡塘—百货大楼 and bus 28 will take you to the Flower and Bird Market.

9. Leaving the city
Foreign teachers are free to go out of the cities for excursion or short trips during the weekends or the May 1st and October 1st holidays, please inform IED of your schedule and place of stay during the trip.
