Residence Regulations


1. Abide by the arrangement of the management office, and reside in the designated room.

2. Place the deposit and pay the rent and fees on the specified date. A deposit equal to a month¡¯s rent and the rent for the month has to be paid at the time of check-in. The rent has to be paid each month before the 5th day of the month. A surcharge equal to 5% of the rent will be imposed should the rent not be paid in time.

3. A discount rate may apply to those who pay the total rent of the whole semester at once, but in this case if the student would terminate the lease in the midway of the semester, he/she will not be able to get any refund after signing the Contract of Housing lease.

4. If a student wishes to add small electrical appliances (with power less than 1000w) purchased with his/her own fund to the room, he/she should seek the approval from the management office first, to make sure that the power consumptions is within the limit of the circuitry. If installed without the permission, he/she must assume any possible incidence liability, and the electric appliances such installed will be confiscated. If permission is granted, it will be the student¡¯s responsibility to cover the cost for the installation and repair.

5. If a student will be absent from the university for more than 20 days in the summer or winter break and wishes to keep the room, he/she can make an application t the management office to keep the room for him/her. If allowed, the student will pay 1/3 of the regular rent before leaving for the period of his/her absence. Otherwise, the room will not be kept. If he/she does not return one week after the reservation date, the management office will have the right to transfer his/her properties in the room and assign the room for a new renting.

6. Should a student wish to change room, he/she has to make an application to the management office and goes through due procedures. Student is not allowed to accommodate a guest in his/her room overnight.

7. Students have the duty to cherish facilities, furniture, wall and floor in the room and public facilities. If any of them got damaged due to the student¡¯s improper behaviors, he/she has to pay for the repair or replacement of the damaged items by deduction the amount from his/her has to pay for the repair or replacement of the damaged items by deduction the deposit is not enough to cover the cost, make up the difference with cash. They can only use the furniture and facilities equipped for their rooms, and cannot take the furniture or facilities equipped for other rooms.

8. Students should take due precaution to protect their properties in the rooms by locking the door and windows when they are out of the room to avoid a possible burglary or theft. It is the students¡¯ responsibility to take care of their properties including the precious and expensive ones. The student¡¯s bicycle should be kept in the designated bicycle shed at night. The management office will not take any lawful and economical liability for the damage and lost of the students¡¯ properties during their tenancy.

9. Students should be cautious of the fire, and should not keep or store any combustible and explosive materials in the room. If the misconducts result in fire, the student must take the full responsibility on the loss, and if the case is serious, they can be charged with criminal act by the judiciary authority.

10. The dormitory building should be kept quiet. One cannot disturb others in study or rest in study or rest in any way and for any reason, e.g., dancing, singing, up-roaring, playing music loudly, etc. Students should be back to the dormitory before 12 o¡¯clock midnight and visitors should leave the dormitory before 11 o¡¯clock at night.

11. Should students wish to have a gathering or a party, they should apply to the management office in advance for permission. If approved, the event must be held in a designated place. Guangxi University will not provide any place to hold religion-related activities.

12. Student should preserve the neatness of the public places, and cannot put poster, pile up personal items, or cook in the corridor and aisle. Otherwise, the management office will have the right to dispose them as garbage. Students cannot litter (including through the window), raise any pet in the dormitory or public places. Students are not allowed replace and reassemble the lock of the door by themselves.

13. The management office reserves the right to check the condition of the room occupied by the students without notice in advance.

14. Student should give notice to the service desk of the management office three days before check out. Before surrendering the room, the student should remove all of his/her belongs and make sure that the room is in good and clean condition when surrendered to management office, or there will be a deduction of £¤ 10~100 from the deposit to cover the cost of cleaning. He/She should begin to check-out and return the key of the room one hour before leaving the university. If failed to do so, the management office have the right not to return the deposit or scholarship to the student.

New students should read carefully and understand the above regulations, then sign the Contract of Housing Lease in 3 days. Guangxi University would rent the room after a student has signed the Contact of Housing Lease. The International Exchange Department reserves the right to stop renting a room to a student who violates any of the above 1-14 regulations, or fails to pay a due rent for more than a month. Such a student must move out of his/her room in the dormitory within a week from the day of the notice was issued by the Management Office. If the student refuses to move out, the management office will have the right to make any necessary measures in its own way to deal with the room and the properties in it.
