The international Exchange Department is the major functional organ for foreign affairs in Guangxi University. Over the years, the department has helped establish close links of academic exchange and cooperation between Guangxi University and its counterparts abroad.

        Besides sending its staff abroad for further training or degrees, Guangxi University was also one of first universities in China to recruit foreign students, who are now an important part of the campus student population. Since 1962, Guangxi University has trained several hundred foreign students from 40 countries and over a wide variety of academic subjects and qualifications.

The Chinese Language and Culture Center within the department runs regular language and culture programs for periods ranging from weeks up to years. With its own hostel, the International Exchange Department can accommodate up to 200 students.
