On February 24,2025, Li Guozhong,Secretary of CPC Guangxi University Committee, attended the ceremony and announced the official establishment of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence.President Han Linhai presided over the ceremony, and vice president Zhao Shuangliang, along with more than 500 government officials,experts,teachers and student representatives,attended the event.

Following the ceremony, the Guangxi University School of Computer and Electronic Information/Institute of Artificial Intelligence Industry-University Forum was convened.

GXU will take the establishment of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence as an opportunity to promote the deep integration of disciplines and innovate the talent cultivation model of "interdisciplinary + project-driven" to nurture more compound AI talents with a sense of national responsibility and international perspective for Guangxi. We will strengthen organized scientific research, focusing on the frontiers of the discipline and serving the significant needs of the society and the region, particularly concentrating on the development strategies of "ASEAN" and "Marine Economy", further highlighting Guangxi University's educational characteristics of "subtropical, ASEAN, marine, and frontier ethnicity." We will improve the innovation ecosystem, promote the establishment of an artificial intelligence industry alliance, and foster the deep integration of technology chains, talent chains, and industry chains. We will enhance the capability of artificial intelligence to empower China-ASEAN science and education cooperation, collaborating with universities in ASEAN countries to cultivate more artificial intelligence talents.
