On February 9th, Xiao Jianzhuang, President of Guangxi University, led a team to conduct an on-site inspection of the Pinglu Canal construction project and held talks with Pinglu Canal Group Co., Ltd. Wang Jieyun, Chairman of Pinglu Canal Group Co., Ltd., attended the meeting.

President Xiao and his team visited the construction sites of the Madao Junction, Qishi Junction, and Qingnian Junction along the canal. At each junction, Xiao listened carefully to project leaders' detailed briefings on water conveyance tunnel design, construction progress, technical challenges, and progress on related scientific research projects. He observed construction organization, technical management protocols, and safety and quality control measures on site, and engaged in discussions with technical staff on topics including green construction and low-carbon technology applications.

At the Pinglu Canal Construction Headquarters, Wang Jieyun welcomed President Xiao's delegation and provided a systematic overview of the current construction progress and future plans for the project. President Xiao expressed gratitude to Pinglu Canal Group for its long-standing support for Guangxi University and briefed attendees on the university's research initiatives and project developments related to this major national project. The two parties reached broad consensus on establishing a joint laboratory, strengthening scientific research collaboration, and innovating talent cultivation models. They agreed to further expand cooperation in areas including industrial services, platform development, scientific research, talent sharing, and professional degree education.

During the visit, President Xiao met with faculty and students stationed at the construction site who are engaged in research and practical work. He inquired in detail about their work and living conditions and listened to their research progress and reflections. He noted that their commitment to working at the frontline of this major national project, integrating theoretical research with engineering practice, fully demonstrates the dedication of Guangxi University faculty and students in serving national strategies and engaging with contemporary challenges. He encouraged them to continue their work at the construction site, pursue innovation guided by practical problem-solving, and contribute further to the canal's development through scientific and technological advancements and green innovations.
