Recently, ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, a professional higher education evaluation institution, officially released the "2026 Best Chinese Universities Ranking". Guangxi university ranks 86th in the main ranking (i.e., the ranking of comprehensive universities), climbing three places compared to 2025 and once again reaching a historic high. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Guangxi university has demonstrated strong development momentum, steadily rising in this ranking. In recent years, Guangxi University has seized the major opportunities presented by the “Double First-Class” initiative and the ministry-provincial co-construction mechanism. The university has also achieved five landmark accomplishments: a record high number of newly added Essential Science Indicators (ESI) disciplines, world-leading large-span arch bridge construction technology, the election of a homegrown scholar as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the inclusion of civil engineering in the Ministry of Education's second round of the “Double First-Class” discipline construction list, and the publication of a paper in “Nature” as the first corresponding unit.
