On March 4, Guangxi University held a webinar with the poverty alleviation research delegation from the Program Management Unit on Area Based Development (PMU A-Thailand) to deeply engage in poverty alleviation research in Thailand. The seminar was hosted online by Prof. Dr. Xiao Jianzhuang, vice president of Guangxi University.

Prof. Dr. Xiao reviewed the collaborative achievements since both parties signed a cooperation agreement in 2024, including mutual visits and field research activities. He emphasized that Guangxi University, leveraging its strengths in China-ASEAN regional studies, has long focused on issues of poverty alleviation and sustainable development. He expressed hope that both sides would further promote poverty alleviation research through technical cooperation and personnel training.

The head of the delegation Mr. Asoke Ponbumrung stated that the Program Management Unit on Area Based Development (PMU A-Thailand), along with research teams from universities such as Kalasin University, Prince of Songkla University, Thaksin University, and Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, aims to collaborate with Guangxi University to establish a Poverty Alleviation Research and Technology Exchange Center in Thailand. This center would apply China's advanced scientific technologies and poverty alleviation experiences to Thailand's poverty alleviation work, focusing on areas such as livestock industry chains, aquaculture, pest and disease control in crops, and the production and processing technologies of traditional Chinese medicine.
