GXU Hosts the Civil Engineering Branch of the MSRIC 2025 and the 5th International Conference on New Western Land-Sea Corridor Engineering Disaster Prevention and Mitigation & Structure Safety

On November 15-16, the Civil Engineering Branch of the 2025 Maritime Silk Road International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research, and Application (MSRIC 2025) and The 5th International Conference on New Western Land-Sea Corridor Engineering Disaster Prevention and Mitigation & Structure Safety was held in GXU. The conference was guided by the Center for School Planning, Construction and Development of the Ministry of Education, the Education Department of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; sponsored by GXU, and organized by the GXU School of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Xiao Jianzhuang, Vice President of GXU, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

Xiao Jianzhuang pointed out that the MSRIC is a platform built by the Ministry of Education for cooperation and docking among Chinese and foreign universities, research institutes and enterprises, it is an important carrier for the practical advancement of industry-education-research-application cooperation among the "Belt and Road" countries , and is of great significance for promoting the connection of the global education chain, talent chain, innovation chain and industrial chain.

He stated that as the top university in Guangxi, GXU has always attached great importance to international industry-education-research-application cooperation, actively responded to the needs of the times, focused on the construction of the Western Land-Sea Corridor, continuously deepened educational exchanges and cooperation with countries along the Maritime Silk Road, and promoted the deep integration of international industry-education-research-application. He hoped that the participating experts and scholars would speak freely and conduct in-depth discussions, jointly promote the innovative application of new technologies and methods in engineering practice, and contribute to the construction of a safe, green, intelligent and resilient modern infrastructure system.

The conference brought together more than 200 experts, scholars, teachers and students from over 10 countries and regions including China, the United States, Canada and Portugal. A total of 23 plenary reports, 13 young scholar reports and 24 graduate student branch reports were held. Centering on the core theme of New Western Land-Sea Corridor Engineering Disaster Prevention and Mitigation & Structure Safety, the participants conducted in-depth exchanges on such aspects as the intelligent construction, operation and maintenance of long-span arch bridges, the full-life safety and durability of high-performance structures, disaster prevention and mitigation of municipal water transportation and marine civil engineering, disaster prevention and mitigation of geotechnical and underground engineering in karst areas, as well as urban renewal, green low-carbon and intelligent construction technologies. They shared the latest research results and practical experience, injecting new energy into serving the "Belt and Road" Initiative, the construction of the Western Land-Sea Corridor, and the deep integration of industry-education-research-application.
