On May 18, Xiao Jianzhuang, President of Guangxi University (GXU), led a delegation to visit the Department of Livestock Production under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam in Hanoi. The two sides held discussions focusing on cross-border technological cooperation in digital and smart livestock farming, the joint construction of a collaborative laboratory, and efforts to support the coordinated development of modern animal husbandry in China and Vietnam. The meeting was attended by Pham Kim Dang, Deputy Director of the Department of Livestock Production.

President Xiao introduced the fundamental strengths of Guangxi University, highlighting its advantages in animal science and digital/intelligent livestock farming. He noted that the University has developed mature research achievements and technical teams in precision farming, intelligent environmental control, disease monitoring, and digital management. Given the close geographical, cultural, and people-to-people ties between Guangxi and Vietnam, the potential for cross-border collaboration in the livestock industry is vast. Guangxi University is ready to leverage its talent, technology, and platform strengths to deepen pragmatic cooperation with the Department of Livestock Production and facilitate the practical deployment of digital and smart farming technologies.
Deputy Director Pham Kim Dang extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an overview of the current state of Vietnam's pig industry, the layout of large-scale farming operations, and the growing demand for digital transformation. He highly commended Guangxi University's research achievements in smart pig farming. He expressed the Department of Livestock Production's support for the joint construction of a collaborative laboratory and expressed hope that through collaboration in training high-level agricultural talents and joint technological breakthroughs, Vietnam would be able to bridge the gap in technical expertise and elevate the modernization level of its domestic pig industry.
During the meeting, the two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges focused on key issues such as advancing digital/smart farming technologies, cost control, disease prevention, and the development of big data platforms. They reached a consensus on joint talent cultivation, the exchange of technical personnel, and the joint construction of a collaborative laboratory.
