On the morning of May 17, Xiao Jianzhuang, President of Guangxi University(GXU), visited Vietnamese universities. He held talks with Hoang Tung (President) and Bui Phu Dinh (Vice President) of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, met with Nguyen Minh Phuong, Vice President of Hanoi Open University, and renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for inter-university cooperation between the two institutions.
During the talks with Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, Xiao Jianzhuang introduced GXU’s recent technological innovations in civil engineering technology and architecture-related fields. He noted that since visiting Hanoi University of Civil Engineering last year, exchanges between the two universities have been frequent, and an inter-university MoU on cooperation was signed in April, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration. Civil engineering is a world-class discipline under development at GXU. It is hoped that the two universities will focus on their strengths in materials, structures, water conservancy, architecture, and other distinctive programs, further deepen cooperation in faculty and student exchanges, joint development of civil engineering disciplines, and co-hosting student summer camps, offer training programs on cutting-edge technologies such as smart cities and sustainable urban development, jointly draft regional technical standards for sponge cities and urban renewal, and build international collaborative laboratory platforms to promote the sharing of regional engineering technologies and coordinated development of industry, academia, and research.

Hoang Tung welcomed the visit of Xiao Jianzhuang and his delegation and introduced the history of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering as well as its recent initiatives and achievements in discipline development, faculty development, talent cultivation, and research outcomes. He noted that the two universities are highly aligned in engineering development and research innovation and expressed hope that both sides would further strengthen exchanges and cooperation and strive to achieve substantive collaborative results.
Afterward, Xiao Jianzhuang met with Nguyen Minh Phuong, Vice President of Hanoi Open University. Both sides reached consensus on faculty exchanges, joint program development, student exchanges, and joint training, and renewed the MoU on cooperation.
