On March 25, the 2025 Council Meeting of Confucius Institute of Suan Dusit University at Suphanburi (CISDUS), co-established by Guangxi University (GXU) and Suan Dusit University (SDU), was held at Bangkok, Thailand. Convened during the pivotal 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations, the meeting carried the theme "Deepening Educational Collaboration, Forging Golden Friendship," bringing together representatives from both nations' education sectors to chart development strategies. Prof.Dr. Xiao Jianzhuang, Vice President of Guangxi University and Chinese Chairman of the Institute's Council, Dr. Pornchanit Kaew-nate, Vice President and Board Chairperson of the Institute, Dr. Pantharak Phookpan, Thai Director of the Institute, Wei Yubing, Chinese Director of the Institute, Dr. Pacharee Suankaew, and Dr. Waranee Vessoontorntep, attended the meeting.

Dr. Xiao noted that 2025 marks the golden milestone of the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations, and the Institute should embrace its mission as a cultural bridge. He highlighted the institute's remarkable achievements in 2024 as a key outcome of the strategic partnership between GXU and SDU, where it played a leading role in advancing the Belt and Road education cooperation. Looking forward, GXU will focus on developing Chinese+vocational programs and building a flagship platform for Sino-Thai cultural exchanges to celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral friendship through educational collaboration.
Pornchanit Kaew-nate stated that SDU will seize the opportunity of the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations to prioritize support for the Institute in organizing the "China-ASEAN Socio-Economic Development Research Center" academic series. This initiative aims to establish a joint China-ASEAN development research center between the two sides, injecting new momentum into their strategic partnership.
The meeting reviewed and approved the 2024 work report and 2025's development plan of the Institute. According to the plan, the focus of 2025 is to implement the "Golden Friendship" thematic program, including initiatives to establish the China-ASEAN Digital Economy Cooperation Forum and enhance the Belt and Road Special Forum projects.
The participants reached multiple consensus on deepening the integration of "Chinese + Vocational Skills" education and advancing Sino-Thai joint research initiatives.
