Delegation from Vietnam National University, Hanoi Visits GXU

On August 4, a delegation led by Mr. Le Van Chieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Innovation at Vietnam National University, Hanoi (Headquarters), visited Guangxi University. Prof. Xiao Jianzhuang, Vice President of Guangxi University, met with the delegation and chaired the exchange meeting.

During the meeting, Xiao warmly welcomed the delegation and highlighted the close educational ties between Guangxi University and Vietnam. He noted that in 1958, Guangxi University was rebuilt on the site of the former Guangxi Nanning Yucai School (Vietnamese Central School Zone), emphasizing this unique historical connection as a solid foundation for bilateral exchanges and collaboration. He introduced the basic profile of Guangxi University and expressed appreciation for the reciprocal visits between the two institutions within one single week, underscoring their mutual commitment to cooperation. Xiao expressed hopes that the two sides would leverage their respective disciplinary strengths to deepen cooperation in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, talent cultivation, and technological innovation, and to jointly transform cooperation outcomes into practical achievements.

Mr. Le Van Chieu expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and affirmed the enduring friendship between China and Vietnam. He acknowledged the Yucai School’s role in nurturing talents for Vietnam’s development, stating that this shared history provides a solid basis for cooperation between the two universities. He stated that VNU attaches great importance to this visit and hopes to strengthen exchanges in advantageous disciplines, realize resource sharing and complementary strengths, and promote comprehensive cooperation. He also expressed the desire to establish regular exchange mechanisms and explore further collaboration.

The meeting featured in-depth discussions on AI collaboration, joint laboratory establishment, collaborative research, online education, faculty and student exchanges, and academic exchanges.

The delegation visited the School of Computer and Electronic Information and the School of Physical Science and Technology. They also toured the historical exhibition hall of the former Guangxi Nanning Yucai School (Vietnamese Central School Zone) at GXU’s West Campus, where they reflected on the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam. At President Ho Chi Minh’s statue, they paid silent tribute and laid flowers to express their deep respect and remembrance.

Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) was founded in 1906. After restructuring in 1993, it reports directly to the Prime Minister of Vietnam and coordinates with various government ministries, holding high autonomy in academia, research, and international engagement. As Vietnam’s largest comprehensive university, it comprises nine member universities, including the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the University of Natural Sciences, and the University of Engineering and Technology, and holds a pivotal role in Vietnam’s higher education system .

Guangxi University actively implements directives from Chinas Central Conference on Work Relating to Neighboring Countries and President Xi Jinping’s keynote speech during his state visit to Vietnam. In alignment with Guangxis regional policies, Guangxi University dispatched a delegation to VNU Headquarters on July 29, comprising leaders from the International Cooperation and Exchange Department (International Student Services Center), Research Institute, Graduate School, and the School of Computer and Electronic Information (School of Artificial Intelligence).
