Recently, the award ceremony for the 2025 Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region "Golden Zhuang Embroidered Ball Friendship Award" was held in Nanning. Prof. Madhava Meegaskumbura, a Sri Lankan professor from the School of Forestry at Guangxi university, received this honor.

Since joining our university, Prof. Madhava Meegaskumbura has led his research team in making significant contributions to the field of evolutionary ecology, achieving a series of high-level research outcomes and injecting strong momentum into the discipline construction and scientific research innovation of ecology at GXU. As a key member of the discipline, he has frequently represented the university at international academic forums, delivering keynote presentations. His profound academic expertise and forward-looking perspectives have significantly enhanced the GXU’s international reputation and influence in this field. Besides his research endeavors, he actively engages in science popularization. He spearheaded the production of promotional videos on ecological conservation in Guangxi, vividly illustrating the unique ecological value of Guangxi's karst landforms and conveying the importance of ecological protection to the public, thereby achieving an organic integration of academic research and social service. This award not only recognizes Prof. Madhava Meegaskumbura's personal academic achievements but also serves as a vivid reflection of our university's deepening internationalization strategy and the outcomes of strengthened high-level international scientific research cooperation.

It is reported that the "Golden Zhuang Embroidered Ball Friendship Award" was established in 1994. It is the highest honorary award conferred by the regional government to foreign experts working in Guangxi, aiming to recognize those foreign experts and friendly individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Guangxi's economic construction, social development, and technological innovation. It symbolizes friendship, cooperation, and excellence.
