Delegation from Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology Visits GXU

A delegation led by Chen Zhihui, Vice President of Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology (KLUST), recently visited Guangxi University (GXU). Yu Wenjin, Vice President of GXU, chaired a symposium with the delegation.

Yu welcomed the guests and introduced GXU's history and recent development. He noted that, as a key Chinese university engaged in cooperation with ASEAN countries, GXU attaches great importance to pragmatic collaboration with Malaysian higher education institutions. The signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two universities has laid a solid foundation for deeper engagement. He expressed hope that the visit would serve as an opportunity to advance cooperation in joint student training, faculty exchange, and research collaboration. Through flexible approaches such as short-term training programs and two-way study opportunities, the two sides could build distinctive study-abroad programs based on their key disciplines, further strengthen the partnership, and establish long-term cooperation mechanisms to cultivate internationally minded talent and support regional economic development.

Chen introduced KLUST’s development and achievements in internationalization. He noted that GXU has strong disciplinary advantages in engineering, information science, and economics, and expressed KLUST’s willingness to deepen faculty and student exchanges and research cooperation by leveraging GXU’s disciplinary strengths and regional platform. He highlighted particular interest in advancing pragmatic collaboration in emerging fields such as intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy. Chen also voiced support for GXU’s proposals on innovative cooperation models and expressed hope that the two universities would explore mutually beneficial pathways to enhance international visibility and talent cultivation.

During the symposium, the two sides held in-depth discussions on student training, faculty exchange, and research cooperation.

Following the meeting, the delegation visited GXU’s Engineering Practice and Training Center and the Large-Scale Structural Testing Platform of the School of Civil Engineering.
