Recently, actively responding to the Ministry of Education's "MOOC Going Global 2.0" action strategy and addressing the educational development needs of ASEAN countries, GXU has vigorously advanced the construction of English-taught courses, achieving new success in promoting MOOCs overseas. In 2025, eight distinctive English-taught MOOCs from GXU were successfully launched on the Indonesia National MOOC Platform (ICE Institute). Among these, the "Block-chain Technology and Applications" course was also simultaneously launched on the Thailand National MOOC Platform (ThaiMOOC), injecting new momentum into deepening China-ASEAN educational and cultural exchanges and enhancing the university's influence within the ASEAN higher education community.
Since 2024, GXU has fully initiated the development of English-taught courses and smart courses, leveraging advantageous discipline clusters and high-quality teaching resources to accelerate the digital and international transformation of its curriculum. The eight MOOCs selected for this overseas launch were developed by teaching teams and key faculty members from the university's national and regional level first-class undergraduate courses. They cover fields such as cutting-edge technology, modern agriculture, marine science, cultural communication, and finance and trade, prominently featuring the university's four major educational characteristics: "Subtropics, ASEAN, Maritime, and Border Ethnic Groups." This batch of courses has not only effectively broadened our university's educational influence in the ASEAN region but has also established a convenient and efficient transnational digital educational exchange link, laying a solid foundation for deepening cooperation between China and ASEAN in areas such as joint course development and student and faculty exchanges.
