GXU’s International Students Have Their First Lesson at 22nd China-ASEAN Expo

Recently, Guangxi University, in collaboration with Guangxi Power Grid Company, organized the first group of 25 international students from the China-ASEAN Energy Institute to participate in the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo. As part of the event, a special opening ceremony and “First Class of the New Semester” educational activity were held for the new 2025 cohort of international students. Xia Guoen, Vice President of Guangxi University, attended the ceremony and presented admission letters and university badges to the student representatives.

The international students visited the exhibition halls of China Southern Power Grid Company, Guangxi Power Grid Company, and China Huadian Corporation, marking a unique and insightful beginning to their academic journey. Li Yan, a senior technical expert from the Nanning Power Supply Bureau, shared his experience in becoming a skilled technician. Starting with the fundamentals of the power grid, he introduced the latest achievements and applications in the “AI + Smart Grid” sector developed by China Southern Power Grid. During an interactive session, the students witnessed embodied robots and robotic dogs demonstrate their capabilities in circuit maintenance and fault diagnosis. The impressive performance of these technologies sparked excitement and anticipation for the future of smart grids.

Ye Jiaxuan, a student representative from Malaysia, remarked, “Here, I not only get to learn alongside classmates from various countries, but also gain firsthand exposure to cutting-edge industry technologies.” Mu Ning, a student representative from Cambodia, commented, “Over the past few days, I’ve seen how the institute emphasizes cultivating international perspectives and cultural competence. I look forward to deepening my professional knowledge and building a solid foundation to tackle global energy challenges in the future.”

The China-ASEAN Energy Institute will continue to leverage Guangxi’s strategic role as a “gateway” to ASEAN, integrate high-quality resources from China Southern Power Grid and Guangxi University, implement the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote regional energy cooperation. The institute is committed to training high-level, interdisciplinary energy professionals equipped with international vision, strong language skills, and solid practical abilities.
