On December 15, the International Student AI Research Camp of Guangxi University officially commenced. Xiao Jianzhuang, President of Guangxi University, and Nguyen Trung Hien, Deputy Head of the Cooperation and Development Department of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and head of the delegation, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Hồ Thanh Hoa, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, was also present at the ceremony.

Xiao Jianzhuang extended a warm welcome to the teachers and students from various countries and briefly introduced Guangxi University's educational profile, its distinctive strengths in the field of artificial intelligence, and its international development strategy of "deepening engagement with ASEAN while embracing the world." He emphasized that deepening cooperation with ASEAN countries is an inevitable choice aligned with the trends of the times, a vivid practice of the neighboring diplomacy philosophy of "amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness," and a strategic measure for achieving mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. Guangxi University is willing to expand comprehensive cooperation with universities in ASEAN countries across broader areas and at higher levels, contributing wisdom and strength to building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future. This research camp aims to provide a platform for teachers and students from various countries to gain an in-depth understanding of the development and application of AI technology in China, experience the splendor of Chinese culture, and promote mutual understanding among youth. He expressed hope that the participating young people would become diligent learners, disseminators of mutual learning among civilizations, and practitioners of enduring friendship, jointly contributing youthful energy to regional development.
Nguyen Trung Hien stated that 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam and is also the "China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges." As artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping the global landscape, cooperation in this cutting-edge field and bringing together young university students for learning and exchange is the best way to commemorate this important occasion. He encouraged the participants to fully engage, actively integrate, continuously explore and innovate, and jointly build a "bridge of friendship" that transcends national boundaries. He also wished every participant fruitful learning and getting experience to harvest a lot.
On behalf of the students, Chu Lan Huong from Hanoi Open University expressed gratitude to Guangxi University for organizing the AI Research Camp. She noted that the camp is not merely a course or a seminar but a bridge built through technology, culture, and collaborative spirit, providing a valuable platform for young students from various countries to learn, exchange ideas, and explore future developments together. She pledged to study diligently and actively explore the frontiers of artificial intelligence alongside peers from other students in different countries.
Focusing on the theme of artificial intelligence, the research camp emphasizes both theory and practice. It features systematically designed courses including AI-themed sessions, green ecology research, multicultural experiences, and language skill enhancement training. The camp brings together 83 teachers and students from Vietnam National University, Hanoi and its affiliated universities, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, Hanoi Open University, Nghe An University, as well as Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi MARA, and Suan Dusit University, Thailand, along with 50 international students from Guangxi University.
